My teaching career actually began in Oxford in 2004, when I student taught at the middle school. After that, I headed to Rochester Community Schools for a year before I decided to pack up and head west! I spent 12 amazing years in Peoria, Arizona where I taught elementary art, as well as high school ceramics, in the Peoria Unified School District. While in Peoria, I coached many years of softball (I played college softball at Hillsdale College), and ran a number of various art/ceramics clubs. I moved back to Michigan this past June and I couldn't be more delighted to be back in Oxford, where it all started! I believe that art is inherent to who we are as human beings! Before we write our first letter, we draw. In my classroom, I foster the idea that creation is an instinct. It is a part of all of us. My goal is to show my students that we can (and will) improve that creative instinct through skills practice - just like dribbling a basketball, matching pitch in music, or practicing math facts. The more you practice, the better you become. I look forward to continuing the tradition of growing our creative student artists here in Oxford!

I have been happily married for the past 4 years! We have 6 wonderful fur babies; 2 dogs and 4 cats. In my free time, I love to create. My artistic passion is ceramics and I love throwing (building) clay on the potter's wheel. I am also an avid video game enthusiast. I love exploring virtual worlds and problem solving within games. Now that I'm back in Michigan, the thing I'm looking most forward to is the fall. I haven't gotten to see the leaves change in 12 years and I can hardly wait!
